Hólmfríður graduated with a BA in Acting from Iceland University of the Arts in the spring of 2024. Only two years after graduating, she has participated in a dozen theatre projects, both in the independent scene and at Akureyri Theatre Company. To mention a few: Skeljar (Shells) by Magnús Thorlacius, shown at Ásmundarsalur in the spring of 2025 and was nominated for Stageplay of the Year at the Icelandic Theatre Awards, Gríman. She played the lead role in Elskan er ég heima (Home I’m Darling) by Laura Wade, shown at Akureyri Theatre Company in the fall of 2025. In the spring of 2026, she played Cunégonde in Birtíngur (Candide) by Voltaire. Hólmfríður is an improv comedy actress and a part of Improv Iceland, which performs every Wednesday evening in the National Theatre of Iceland. Hólmfríður recently voiced a new, very popular Icelandic children's show called Lubbi finnur málbein, on Sjónvarp Símans. Hólmfríður played Nina in the award-winning short film The Bride by Hjördís Jóhannsdóttir, which won Best Icelandic Short Film at RIFF and a Special Mention at TIFF, and was shown on OFF.
