A native of Iceland and a graduate from NYU’s Film Program, Oskar has extensive background in TV commercials production. Among Oskar’s numerous short films are his NYU thesis, Misty Mountain, a Student Academy Awards nominee, and the award winning caper comedy Nylon.

BLACK’S GAME marked Oskar’s feature debut. Based on an Icelandic best-selling novel, it chronicles the true story of how Iceland’s underworld came of age in the late 1990s. It became the highest grossing Icelandic film of this decade.

Oskar directed 3 episodes of the ZDF/BBC co-produced TV series TRAPPED, created by Baltasar Kormákur, that premiered in 2016 to all around critical and commercial success.

Currently Oskar is in post-production on I REMEMBER YOU, which he adapted from the internationally acclaimed ghost novel by Yrsa Sigurdardottir. He is also in pre-production for a TV series based on the noir book series STELLA BLOMKVIST, of which Oskar will direct all 6 episodes with shooting scheduled to begin in April 2017.

Among projects in development is the Millennium Films produced POINT OF VIOLENCE and FEAR, an original TV series Oskar is the creator of about serial murders in Iceland.

Oskar resides in Iceland with his wife and two children, who will either grow up to become mad scientists like their mother or great filmmakers like Roman Polanski.
